Grove Brunch Cafe, located on the Westside of El Paso, contacted Pixel Collector Photography to do a food photography session for them. There were two goals for the session. Firstly, capture visually stunning images of some of their food items. Secondly, they wanted to feature their outdoor patio. We started the session around 9am to ensure that we had good natural light and I supplimented this with a single strobe.
What to Expect
There are several key steps to a successful food photography session and I will highlight a few of them below.
- Preparation: Before any food photography session it is important to have a consultation to convey specific goals and direction for your project. This is a crucial step in ensuring the outcome falls within the expectations.
- It is often helpful to collect samples of images that you feel do and do not successfully accomplish the direction of the project, and try to articulate why you feel that they do or do not work.
- Ensure that the food is fresh and prepared with extra care.
Overall, a food photography session is a unique opportunity to spotlight your product in a unique way to make it stand out from the crowd.
